Over four immersive days, one theme dominated nearly every session, keynote, and conversation. And what we saw, heard, and learned over these days may well shape the next generation of software — and how we at RamBase build it.
This May in Seattle, at Microsoft Build 2025, it felt like we weren’t just attending a conference — we were stepping into tomorrow. My colleague Bjørn Petter Nilsen and I witnessed something remarkable: a complete transformation in how the tech industry talks, thinks, and builds. Gone were the days of scattered focus and broad tech themes. This year, Microsoft delivered a crystal-clear message — Artificial Intelligence isn’t just part of the future. It is the future.
Microsoft’s AI push
We saw a lot of new technologies and product updates. Microsoft introduced new AI capabilities across its platforms, including Microsoft 365, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure Copilot Studio. These improvements are making it easier for us as a software vendor to get started with AI development.

A shift in the IT industry
Microsoft Build 2025 clearly signaled a major shift in the IT landscape. AI is no longer a nice-to-have, but a core part of modern technology strategies. And for us at RamBase, this is particularly important. Here’s why:
AI has the potential to drastically change how we work internally with software development in the coming years. The tools for writing, debugging, and testing code are becoming incredibly advanced. If we stay on top of this technology and use it wisely, it will help us become more efficient. It’s not about replacing developers, but making development faster, safer, and more stable.
But AI will not only impact us internally — it will enhance our products as well. After an inspiring week in Seattle, we already see many use cases where AI can bring real value to our solutions.
From RPA to AI Agents: A New Era of Automation
One of the most exciting developments discussed at Build 2025 was the evolution from Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to AI agents. While RPA has been great for automating repetitive, rule-based tasks, AI agents represent the next leap forward in automation.
RPA uses bots to automate structured, repetitive tasks such as data entry and transaction processing. These bots follow predefined rules and are highly effective where the process is clear and repeatable.
AI agents, however, can learn, reason, and adapt to new scenarios. They rely on advanced technologies like machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision to process complex, unstructured data and make decisions in real-time. This dramatically expands the scope of what can be automated.
By combining RPA with AI agents, businesses can implement a more comprehensive automation strategy — handling both routine and dynamic tasks more effectively.
Talking to systems — and being understood
We’ve had products you can talk to for years. Personally, the only one I actually use is in my car. It’s convenient to say “Call my wife” or “Turn up the heat” without touching anything. But the main challenge with voice-controlled systems has always been that you need to phrase things as commands. If I say “Call Dad,” it works. If I say, “I need to talk to my dad,” it doesn’t.
With the latest advances in AI and NLP, that’s changing. Soon, the system will understand what you mean, not just what you say. This could revolutionize the way we interact with software. Imagine working in a warehouse or production facility, where it’s much easier to speak into a headset than type on a computer. Or imagine a CEO asking, “How are sales today?” in Microsoft Teams — and getting an instant, accurate answer from the ERP system.

Embracing the Future
It’s hard to predict exactly what the future holds. But one thing is clear: AI is going to have a significant impact on how we work and what we build in the years ahead.
We’re moving toward a future where AI is deeply embedded into every part of technology. This shift isn’t just about adopting new tools — it’s about rethinking how we approach problems and create value with IT.
As we continue to explore and implement these AI advancements, it’s crucial that we stay informed and adaptable. The future of IT is being shaped by these technologies — and by embracing them, we can drive innovation and success both within our own organization and for our customers.
At RamBase, we’re not just watching from the sidelines — we’re on board and moving fast. The ideas we bring to the table, the discussions we’re part of, and the initiatives we’re already driving prove that you don’t have to be a tech giant to think big. Our vision and efforts align with some of the leading voices in the AI space, and we’re proud to be part of shaping what’s next. In the world of AI, you don’t need to be the biggest player anymore — curiosity, speed, and the drive to innovate does the trick.
How are you preparing your business for what’s next?
At RamBase, we believe that staying informed and adaptable is key to long-term success. While AI is reshaping the future of software, one thing remains constant: the need for solid systems that support reliable processes, good data, and scalability.
With our cloud-based ERP system tailored to manufacturing and distribution, we help businesses lay the right foundation — so they’re ready for whatever comes next. Let’s take the next step, together.
