How RamBase Business Advisory helped Lie Blikk succeed with three ISO certifications

Facing increasing customer demands and the need to elevate their operations, Lie Blikk AS made a bold, strategic decision: to pursue three ISO certifications simultaneously. With practical, hands-on support from RamBase Advisory and certification partner Kiwa, the journey became both efficient and transformative –engaging the entire organization along the way.

Lie Blikk AS is a family-owned company based in Rogaland, Norway, with over 45 years of experience. What began as a traditional sheet metal workshop has grown into a modern façade contractor with its own production facilities and extensive machinery. Today, the company delivers everything from product development and design to production, installation, and project execution – serving construction, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

As the business evolved, so did the demands from customers and public tenders. For Lie Blikk, staying competitive meant taking the next step in quality, sustainability, and health and safety.

"We had been certified under the Eco-Lighthouse scheme for several years, but we wanted to take things further – both to meet client requirements and to improve internally," says Eirik Kvilstad Heskja, Head of Digitalization and Finance at Lie Blikk AS.

With support from RamBase Business Advisory and certification body Kiwa, Lie Blikk pursued three ISO certifications at once:
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
  • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety).

A holistic process with broad engagement

Instead of handling each certification separately, Lie Blikk chose an integrated audit process. This made it possible to view the business as a whole and align internal initiatives across departments.

“If we were going to do this, we wanted to do it properly. Looking at everything together helped us see connections and think more strategically, especially in terms of risk and improvement,” explains Thomas Paulsen, Head of Sales and Marketing.

By bringing everything together in one process, Lie Blikk AS saved both time and internal resources. Instead of three separate workshops and audits, everything was done in a single round, making it easier to identify connections, especially between HSE and environmental management.

Broad involvement across the organization was a key driver of the project's success. From the shop floor to senior leadership, employees were actively engaged throughout the process. This hands-on participation fostered a sense of ownership and helped embed continuous improvement into the company culture.

“When people are involved, it becomes part of the culture. It’s not about introducing a new regime, but about improving what we already do,” says Heskja.

Certifications as a tool for continuous improvement

As a result, the certifications became more than just a formality; they became a tool for continuous improvement, closely aligned with the company’s core values: safety, quality, and sustainability.

"It’s nice to get a stamp of approval that what we’re doing is good," says Paulsen.

Practical guidance that built confidence and delivered value

In addition to support from the certification body Kiwa, Lie Blikk also received valuable assistance from the RamBase Business Advisory team. Advisors Olaf Egge Sundby and Theoline Undheim became a key part of the project, not just as consultants, but as hands-on and trusted sparring partners.

“They helped us run workshops, conduct assessments, and carry out a thorough GAP analysis. They showed us how to translate the ISO requirements into something concrete and actionable in our day-to-day work,” says Heskja.

The guidance provided by RamBase was marked by strong expertise and a clear understanding that documentation is not an end in itself, but a tool for real improvement. Lie Blikk experienced an advisory process that was down-to-earth, effective, and tailored to their organization, without needing to implement a whole new system.

“We really appreciated their approachable and practical style. It wasn’t about introducing procedures just for the sake of paperwork, but about connecting the requirements to something that actually adds value,” says Heskja.

Ready for the future

With the certifications in place, Lie Blikk is now positioned to compete in markets that were previously out of reach.

“We’re already talking to customers who previously required certifications. Now, new doors are opening, and we’re ready,” says Paulsen.

Looking ahead, the goal is clear: To be a sustainable contractor and manufacturing company with structure, pride, and strength to deliver on increasingly complex projects across construction, interior, and industrial sectors. Lie Blikk shows that certification is not just about documentation – it’s about culture, ownership, and a confident step into the future.
